Rolfing in Seattle

Seattle Rolfing - Todd Hargrove, Certified RolferRolfing, also called structural integration, is one of the twentieth century's most influential and imitated forms of soft tissue manipulation. It is a form of bodywork and movement education developed over 50 years of study and practice by Dr. Ida Rolf, a biochemist.

The purpose of Rolfing is to allow the body to be fluid, light, balanced, free of chronic pain and stiffness, and at ease with itself in the gravitational field. In essence, Rolfing seeks recovery of the graceful and unrestricted movement we enjoyed in youth—before years of chronic stress, injuries, poor posture or just inactivity created patterns of restriction and compensation in our bodies.

It's estimated that more than 1 million people have received Rolfing work, including professional athletes from the NFL and NBA, dancers, martial artists, and people from all walks of life.

Research has demonstrated that Rolfing can:

  • reduce chronic pain and stress;
  • enhance neurological functioning;
  • allow the body to conserve energy;
  • significantly reduce excess curvature in the spine; and
  • create more economical and refined patterns of movement.
